The 230 grain .30 caliber MatchKing is built around long-range stability: a 27 caliber elongated ogive, a pointed meplat, and a bearing surface to ogive junction cut at the same 1.5 degree angle found in many match rifle chamber throats. Those details are there for one reason — consistent bullet-to-bore alignment and a higher ballistic coefficient.
It is a hollow point boat tail match bullet, and Sierra notes that MatchKing and Tipped MatchKing bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. They can be used for varmint hunting, but the design does not give the same reliable explosive expansion as lightly jacketed Hornet Blitz or Varminter bullets.
This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1x8 or faster.
