Out in the deer woods, a 24-inch .30-30 lever gun still makes a lot of sense. This Model 94 Sporter pairs the familiar 8-round magazine capacity with a half-round, half-octagon blued barrel, giving it the longer sighting plane and classic balance that set the Sporter apart from the handier carbine versions.

The stock is walnut with a satin oil finish, straight-grip styling, and bordered cut checkering. Winchester also gives it the details that matter on a rifle meant to be carried and worked: radiused lever edges, a steel loading gate, an articulated cartridge stop, and round locking bolt trunnions for a smooth lever throw. Sighting is handled by a Marble Arms front sight and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts if irons are not the plan.

There are a few practical touches here beyond the old-school look. The top-tang safety is easy to see, the rebounding hammer adds another layer of safety, and the hammer is drilled and tapped for the included knurled spur extension to help with cocking and decocking when a scope is mounted. The blued crescent buttplate and forearm cap keep the traditional Model 94 feel intact.
